Foxborough was a wild one. Whether riders left the Gillette Stadium track with a career-defining result or deep frustration, no one could argue that Round 12 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship lacked fireworks. Chance Hymas emerged from the chaos as the surprise winner, becoming the sixth different rider to stand atop the podium in six 250SX East races. His win also made him the 11th different victor across the 12 total 250SX rounds this season—a testament to the depth and unpredictability of the 2025 field. The only repeat winner so far remains Haiden Deegan, who has notched two victories this year, solidifying his status as a championship front-runner.
From the moment the gate dropped, the night was a spectacle. Hymas got a decent jump but wasn’t immediately at the front, trailing early leader Tom Vialle and title contender Max Anstie. The Foxborough track, known for its deep ruts and sharp rhythm sections, quickly began claiming victims. A multi-rider pileup in the first corner shuffled the order, opening the door for riders like Hymas to capitalize. By the midpoint of the race, Hymas had settled into a smooth, relentless pace that saw him reel in Vialle, making a clean pass just before the whoops section. Once out front, Hymas didn’t look back, expertly navigating the treacherous course to claim his maiden win in front of a roaring crowd.
Not everyone fared as well. Anstie, who had been locked in a tight points battle all season, saw his hopes take a significant hit after tangling with another rider and going down hard in the sand section. Though he remounted and salvaged a few points, the damage was done, and frustration was clear as he crossed the line well outside the top ten. Likewise, Vialle’s early speed faded in the final laps as small mistakes began to add up, relegating him to a still-respectable but disappointing fourth place. For both riders, Foxborough was a night of missed opportunities in a season where every point counts.
Meanwhile, Deegan, the only rider with multiple wins this season, had a night of quiet consistency. While he never truly factored into the battle for the win, his fifth-place finish allowed him to maintain his position near the top of the standings. With the championship race as tight as it’s been in years, Deegan’s ability to avoid disaster might ultimately prove just as valuable as raw speed. Other notable performances included Coty Schock, who snagged his first podium of the season with an impressive ride to second, and Jo Shimoda, who charged from outside the top ten at the start to claim third by the checkers.
The parity in the 250SX class this season has been remarkable. With 11 different winners across 12 races, the 2025 campaign has defied predictions and kept fans guessing each weekend. The Foxborough round perfectly encapsulated this unpredictability, where newcomers can rise to the occasion and veterans can stumble. Hymas’s victory marks a significant milestone in his young career, but it also raises the stakes for the remaining rounds as the title picture becomes even more muddled. With only a few races left before the East-West Showdown, every gate drop carries immense weight.
As the series heads toward its final stretch, the storylines are only getting juicier. Can Hymas build on this momentum, or was Foxborough a one-off triumph? Will Deegan’s consistency continue to keep him in the hunt, or will someone else emerge to challenge his position? And can riders like Anstie and Vialle rebound from their Foxborough frustrations in time to reassert themselves in the title chase? One thing’s for sure: if the rest of the season is anything like what we saw under the lights in Foxborough, fans are in for a thrilling ride to the finish.
