An Open Letter from Joe Burrow to LSU Football
To the LSU Football Family,
It’s hard to put into words what LSU means to me. From the moment I stepped onto campus in Baton Rouge, I knew I was part of something special. The energy, the passion, and the brotherhood I found here changed my life forever. LSU didn’t just give me a place to play football—it gave me a home, a family, and memories that will last a lifetime. Today, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to the coaches, teammates, fans, and everyone who made my time at LSU unforgettable.
Winning the national championship in 2019 was a dream come true. But it wasn’t just about the trophy—it was about the journey. The early morning workouts, the long practices in the Louisiana heat, the sacrifices we all made for a common goal. I wouldn’t trade a single moment of it. Coach Ed Orgeron believed in me when many others didn’t, and my teammates pushed me to be the best version of myself every day. That season wasn’t just about me; it was about all of us, and it was a testament to what LSU Football stands for—grit, heart, and excellence.
Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night is like nothing else in the world. The deafening roar of the crowd, the sea of purple and gold, the feeling of playing for something bigger than yourself—it’s impossible to describe unless you’ve lived it. LSU fans are the heartbeat of this program. You supported me when I first arrived, you lifted us when we needed it most, and you celebrated with us when we reached the mountaintop. That love and support didn’t stop when I left for the NFL—it has followed me every step of the way, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.
Even though I no longer wear an LSU jersey, I will always be a Tiger. Watching this program continue to grow and compete at the highest level makes me proud. I see the same determination and hunger in today’s team that we had in 2019. To the current players—cherish every moment. The friendships you make, the lessons you learn, and the experiences you share will stay with you for the rest of your life. And trust me, there’s no better feeling than giving everything you have for this university and its fans.
LSU shaped me into the person and player I am today. It taught me resilience, leadership, and the power of believing in yourself. No matter where my career takes me, LSU will always be a part of my story. I’ll always represent this school with pride, and I’ll always be cheering for the Tigers. Thank you to everyone—coaches, teammates, trainers, professors, and fans—who played a role in my journey. You have my deepest appreciation and respect.
