    Patrick Mahomes Donates $5 Million to Launch NIL Fund for Texas Tech Athletes

    Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Texas Tech alumnus Patrick Mahomes has made a significant contribution to his alma mater by donating $5 million to support the university’s athletic programs. This generous donation is part of the “Campaign for Fearless Champions,” aimed at enhancing the South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project, which has a total budget of $242 million.

    In recognition of Mahomes’ contribution, Texas Tech will name several areas within the new facilities after him, including the walkthrough area in the Womble Football Center, the quarterback meeting room, and the offensive coordinator’s office in the South End Zone Building at Jones AT&T Stadium.

    Beyond infrastructure, Mahomes is also investing in the future of student-athletes through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives. In collaboration with Adidas, he launched “Team Mahomes,” signing six Texas Tech student-athletes across various sports to NIL deals. These athletes include football player Micah Hudson, softball standout NiJaree Canady, basketball’s Jasmine Shavers, golfer Matthew Comegys, soccer player Sam Courtwright, and baseball’s TJ Pompey.

    Mahomes’ involvement with Texas Tech extends beyond financial contributions. He has been instrumental in fostering the partnership between Texas Tech and Adidas, leading to a 10-year agreement making Adidas the official athletic brand partner of the university. This partnership has resulted in co-branded apparel featuring Mahomes’ signature “Gladiator” logo.

    Mahomes’ dedication to Texas Tech is evident in his frequent visits to the campus, participation in athletic events, and ongoing support for student-athletes. His contributions are shaping the future of Texas Tech athletics, providing enhanced facilities and opportunities for current and future Red Raiders.
