BREAKING: Mihyia Davis Makes History with First-Ever Cycle in Texas Tech Softball
LUBBOCK, Texas — Junior outfielder Mihyia Davis etched her name into Texas Tech softball history by hitting for the first cycle in program history during a recent game. This remarkable achievement underscores Davis’s exceptional talent and solidifies her status as one of the nation’s premier collegiate softball players.
Davis’s cycle—comprising a single, double, triple, and home run in a single game—showcases her versatility and power at the plate. Known for her speed and contact hitting, this performance adds a new dimension to her offensive prowess.
A native of Lovelady, Texas, Davis transferred to Texas Tech after two standout seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette. During her time with the Ragin’ Cajuns, she earned numerous accolades, including the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and the NFCA Golden Shoe Award in 2023 for leading Division I with 52 stolen bases. Her career batting average stands at an impressive .401, reflecting her consistent offensive contributions.
Since joining the Red Raiders, Davis has continued to excel. She was named to the 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List and ranked No. 15 among outfielders by D1Softball. Her defensive skills are equally notable, with several highlight-reel plays from center field.
In a recent game against UTEP, Davis demonstrated her impact by leading off with a bunt single, stealing second, and eventually scoring the game’s first run. She also drove in another run later in the game, contributing to Texas Tech’s 6-1 victory.
Davis’s historic cycle not only marks a personal milestone but also serves as a testament to her dedication and skill. As the Red Raiders continue their season, her leadership and performance will be pivotal in their pursuit of success.
