BREAKING;’ A Miami Dolphins veteran appears to have confirmed suspicions about his new teammate’s position..
The Miami Dolphins’ offensive line still has several questions to answer before the preseason ends and the 2024 regular season begins. This is particularly true of the offensive line’s interior.
The addition of former Tennessee Titans IOL Aaron Brewer was one of the Dolphins’ main offseason free agency acquisitions aimed at addressing that topic. However, while appearing to be the solution at center, it was unclear which of those positions Brewer would ultimately secure given the roster mix.
After all, Brewer played both guard and center in Tennessee, so he could potentially play either position with the Dolphins. Miami has yet to bring back its starting center from 2023, Connor Williams, who suffered a ruptured ACL in December.
However, IOL Liam Eichenberg talked with the media after practice on Tuesday at the Dolphins’ OTAs, and he stated that Brewer is taking over for him at center, at least for now.
“As you guys know, I’m going to play wherever they need me to play,” remarked Eichenberg. “So, I’m really happy to be out there. I’m thrilled to be healthy right now. I was fairly banged up by the end of last year. So it’s fantastic to be able to run without pain. So I’m excited right now. I am now aiming to be the best center for this team. Obviously, when Brewer returns, I’ll start working at guard, and I did some solid work in the first few weeks of OTAs. So I’m looking forward to participating in team activities and demonstrating my abilities.”
There is still a long way to go in the offseason, and it’s possible that the Dolphins will continue to add to their offensive line, including Williams. After all, they did little to improve their interior offensive line in the draft, so perhaps another shoe is about to drop.
However, it is unclear whether Williams would be ready to start the season if he were brought back. Given his December injury, the veteran lineman may find it difficult to return in early September.
Brewer also had his best season at center while at Tennessee and appears to be a more natural fit there. As a result, for the time being, it appears that Brewer will take over as the man snapping the ball to Tua Tagovailoa once the season begins.
