TENSION, AS;’ Buffalo Sabres have made an extremely important and unexpected decision that has supporters talking…
The Florida Panthers acquired Kyle Okposo in a trade last week, thus the Buffalo Sabres will require a new captain. It appears that the Sabres won’t announce their new captain until either the offseason or the following season. For the remainder of the season, Buffalo will only have assistant captains at this point.
It made me wonder: who ought to be appointed captain? There are several Sabres prospects that ought to be playing for Buffalo in the C league next season. They may be the newest team in the NHL, but some of its players are worthy captains.
Okposo led the Sabres admirably as captain. He personified what it meant to be a Buffalo Sabre, despite the fact that his offensive career wasn’t particularly noteworthy. He spoke all the appropriate things a captain should say, making him the ideal role model.
Having stated that, these three individuals are vying to become the next captain. There will be three candidates: two well-known names and one unexpected one.
Alex Tuch.
Alex Tuch is the initial contender. Tuch has been a fan favorite ever since he was acquired in the Jack Eichel trade from Vegas. Growing up, Tuch was a big admirer of the Sabres, and after being acquired, he was able to fulfill his childhood dream of playing for his beloved team.
The winger for the Sabres has a deep passion for both the team and Buffalo. His desire to be a Sabre is a refreshing attitude in and of itself. I wouldn’t be shocked if Buffalo appointed him assistant captain if he doesn’t get the captaincy.
He is not just a talented player, but he also exudes a captain’s demeanor. As he has accepted his status as a Buffalo Sabre, it would be awesome if he was the team’s next captain.
